Flexible and printedelectronics(FPE) technology is theprocess to create and print functional devices on a flexible substrate such asplastic, textile, paper or metallic foil.The competitive advantages of FPE aredirect printing, shortened design to product time,less process steps, and material flexibility.It isenvironmentally friendly and enableslarge-scale production of thin, flexible, wearable, lightweight functionaldevices with varying sizes and low cost. This presentation will highlighttheopportunities and applications of flexible andprintedelectronicsin a number of areas including Logic/Memory,Lighting, Display, Physical Sensor, Chemical Sensors, Energy, Smart Packaging, Wearable,Internet-of-Things, etc.In addition, theflexible and printedelectronicsresearch activities inA*STAR/SIMTechwill also beintroduced.
Dr Wei Jun is currently the Principal Scientist inSingapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), the ProgrammeManager of Large Area Processing Programme and 3D Additive ManufacturingProgramme forthe Agency forScience, Technology and Research(A*STAR).Dr Wei’s research includes printed functional devices, 3D additivemanufacturing, and low dimensional materials.He has authored and co-authored over 600publicationsin Chemical Society Reviews,Progress inMaterials Science,Science Advances, Advanced Materials, Advanced FunctionalMaterials,ACSNano,JACS, Energy & Environmental Science, Chemistry of Materials,Journal of MaterialsChemistry,Small,Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells,InorganicChemistry,Nanotechnology, etc.with citationsover10000 times. He is holding more than 60 technology disclosures andpatents. He is serving several international conference committees andeditorialboards.
